Personal Trainers & Boot Camp Classes

Yoga Classes

Rejuvenate yourself and enhance your well being through our popular yoga classes.  Beginner to advance students are welcome in all classes as the instructor is equipped to provide adjustments, both physical and verbal, to maximize each person's individual practice. Taught by instructors Andrea Markham and Ali Arzouman.

 

Class Descriptions

Hatha

Designed as a beginner sequence, these 26 postures promote spinal strength and flexibiility, stimulate the internal organs to cleanse the body of toxins from the inside out, and activate the cardiovascular and circulatory systems. The postures are repeated in the same order for each class as a way to gauge progress in overall strength, balance, and flexibility/range of motion. Focus is primarily on body alignment to maximize physiological benefits.

 

Vinyasa

A sequence of asanas with the purpose of connecting breath to movement.  Each breath, an inhale or exhale, dictates movement between postures, and may be followed by holding an asana for a predetermined number of breaths, or a continuous flow. Focus is more on the journey between postures than it is on perfect body alignment as is with Hatha.

 

Slow Flow

A sequence of asanas similar to Vinyasa at a slower pace to encourage more muscle engagement and body alignment.

 

Yin

This passive practice uses gravity, rather than an individual’s effort, allowing students to slow down and experience stress on the connective tissue such as ligaments and tendons, and address issues in the joints. Each posture is held for anywhere between 3-5 minutes to allow the body to relax, release tension, and stress the body - in a good way. Especially useful for those who frequently participate in activities such as running, weight training, or tend to have a sedentary lifestyle.

 

Fusion

This Hatha + Power blend combines the static and dynamic nature of these two classes for an opportunity to experience the benefits of both. An introduction to sun salutations is provided at the beginning of class to generate internal heat as well as prepare for transitions between postures throughout the class.

 

Power

Offering inspiration from Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Hatha this class challenges students with opportunities for building strength with every posture. Lunges, sun salutations, arm balances, inversions, and balance postures will also help build cardiovascular endurance as well as promote effective digestive system functioning.

Torii Gym is now pleased to be offering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes with Nic Cartwright.  Learn self-defense, gain confidence and disclipline, get fit, challenge yourself, and have fun.  Classes are available for both children (age 10 years and older) and adults.  Cost for classes are $60/month for children and $80/month for adults with classes meeting two times a week.  For more information, contact Torii Gym.
